Vehicles in Germany's City Found Covered with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Police Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Police mentioned they were contacted by a resident who noticed a car in Hanau marked with red-colored fluid

Roughly 50 cars have been smeared with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.

Cars, building surfaces and postal boxes were marked, sometimes with swastikas, they announced in a official communication.

Officers report they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a resident discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored fluid.

The liquid had been placed in the form of a banned symbol, they stated.

Police then located multiple other vandalized automobiles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.

These symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.

Police state preliminary tests indicate the substance was most likely human blood.

"There is still no clue as to its origin; investigators are not yet cognizant of any harm in connection with the event," they added.

Local authorities said they were attempting "to solve the incident" and have requested to the public for details.

A senior political figure commented the incident left him speechless and required to be solved promptly.

"This act hits the core of Hanau and revives the pain of the extremist terrorist attack half a decade ago," he wrote on online, referring to the death of nine individuals by a gunman focusing on residents of foreign heritage in 2020.
